Photobiomodulation - Medical and Therapeutic Applications

Session Outline:
Laser emitted light of different wavelengths is recognised as having various medical and therapeutic applications. The term Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has now been replaced with the new term Photobiomodulation to more correctly identify the biological actions that this type of therapy induces when used in a therapeutic context.

 

Biography:

waynereilly2Wayne Reilly BSc MSc (Hons) is a member of the Australian Medical Laser Association (AMLA) and the World Association of Laser Therapists (WALT).

He has been using lasers in his multimodality clinic in Brisbane for several years. He is a Biochemist by training with over 50 published journal articles in many areas of health and medicine.

He was a co-inventor of a new lipophillic delivery system for carrying bioactive molecules into the skin which became the basis of his 2nd and 3rd international patents and researched the role of the extracellular matrix in cell function and its role in tumour angiogenesis and wound healing.
